Event Details
An irreverent parody – complete with the “Can-Can” – join Virginia Opera for this hilarious spoof. Offenbach, a master of musical burlesque, uses the backdrop of a Greek myth about an unhappy couple who become the victims of meddling Olympian gods to set the stage for his caricature of serious opera – and we all get a good laugh in the process!
As the seductive king of the gods, Virginia Opera proudly welcomes back baritone Troy Cook (Jupiter) – a graduate of Virginia Opera’s Emerging Artist Program, now enjoying a major international career singing with the Royal Opera, Covent Garden, Staatsoper Hamburg, and Semperoper Dresden.
Sung in English with English Supertitles
