CANCELED: Collage Dance Collective
Virginia Arts Festival

OFFICIAL VIRGINIA ARTS FESTIVAL STATEMENT: The Virginia Arts Festival’s top priority is the health and safety of all our patrons, artists, volunteers, and staff.  In conformance with Governor Ralph Northam’s statewide ban on events over 100 people made on March 15, 2020, and due to the increasing threat of COVID-19, all public performances and education events scheduled through May 4 will be postponed or canceled effective Tuesday, March 17, 2020.

Refunds will be available at the original point of purchase. Tickets purchased through Ticketmaster will be automatically refunded.

In light of Governor Northam's stay at home order, the SevenVenues box office is closed. Tickets purchased in person at the Scope Arena box office will be adjusted once the building reopens.

Reminding the world that ballet comes in all colors, this acclaimed company seeks to connect the African American community to ballet, telling its stories in dance. Their photo of five female dancers of color, posted on social media last year, went viral, and encapsulated one of their most powerful messages: classical dance as an art form knows no boundaries, and artists of color have no limits. Based in Memphis, Collage Dance Collective attracts world class dancers to its mission, and focuses on community outreach and education, estimating that about half its audience has never seen ballet before. Virginia Arts Festival audiences have seen members of this brilliant company when they joined Dance Theatre of Harlem for spectacular performances of Dougla in the 2019 spring season; now you can see them in their own compelling repertoire.
