Scope Arena
201 East Brambleton Avenue , Norfolk, Virginia 23510
757.664.6464
Built in 1971, the Scope Arena was designed by Italian engineer and architect Pier Luigi Nervi. The arena’s concrete monolithic dome and twenty-four flying buttresses make it a popular, eye-catching, and iconic landmark in downtown Norfolk. Derived from the PalaLottomatica and Palazzetto dello Sport, which were built in the 1950s for the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome, the venue holds the title for having the world’s largest reinforced thin-shell concrete dome. In addition to a flexible main arena, the venue also features modular exhibit halls and meeting rooms.
Scope Arena hosts various events and is currently home to the Norfolk Admirals hockey team, the MEAC Basketball Tournament, conventions, concerts, family shows, and comedy tours.
