Event Details
A five-time Grammy winner, singer Lalah Hathaway was again nominated for three Grammys in 2019 including Best R&B album. Born to R&B/soul music royalty, people first came to know her simply as the daughter of late soul music legend, Donny Hathaway. But there is far more to her than that. A trained pianist and vocalist, she is a graduate of the Berklee College of Music and her career has spanned two decades. Her chart-topping hits include the number one Urban AC song of 2016, “Angel” and her iconic number one hit “Forever, For Always, For Love.”
A prolific artist, Lalah Hathaway has collaborated with such illustrious talents as Pharrell Williams, Kendrick Lamar, Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg, and has recorded and toured with many others including Prince, Stevie Wonder, Mary J. Blige, The Winans, Herbie Hancock and Anita Baker. Her most recent album, the Grammy-nominated Honestly, features guest appearances from Redman, Lecrae, Robert Glasper and more. Accompanied by a short film of the same title, Honestly is a reflection piece on resistance and joy, a look at the world through the eyes of a child. Whether she’s singing about a broken love affair or a broken world, no one can express the hurt, pain and anguish you feel today yet give you hope for a better tomorrow like Lalah Hathaway.
Hear this soulful singer at the peak of her gifts, live on stage at the Attucks Theatre!
