To ensure a safe and enjoyable environment, all patrons are subject to metal detector screening and physical and/or physical inspection of their person and belongings. Failure to consent to an inspection will result in the denial of entry.

Event Details
This Norfolk native is the quintessential artist’s artist, perhaps better known to jazz performers than he is to audiences. Both a superb section player and spectacular soloist, he has performed with the legendary Duke Ellington Orchestra (which he sometimes conducts) for 15 years, the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra (where he also serves as Artistic Director), and the Count Basie Orchestra; he has shared the stage with musical icons from Ella Fitzgerald to Stevie Wonder and Clark Terry, performing in such august venues as London's Royal Albert Hall and New York's Carnegie Hall.
His lifelong dedication to music mirrors his dedication to education. Charlie Young has served as Professor of Saxophone at Howard University for more than 20 years, and now also serves as Coordinator of Instrumental Jazz Studies.
Fans can hear this prodigious talent on more than 30 recordings, including his own release So Long Ago—but the best place to hear him this season is the Attucks Jazz Club!
